Tips:
- Mana and fury clots will float to the top and stay there for a little while, giving you time to take care of other stuff first.
- You can rotate around your character both in the inventory screen and before initiating combat - just swipe across your character. When doing this a camera button appears, which lets you share screen shots directly on Facebook.
- If you're struggling against an enemy, you can always step away and find some other monsters to fight, making you stronger. You can also save up mana and fury this way, letting you start the fight off with full bars (note that only the mana seems to persist when reloading the game - any fury saved up will be lost; this might be a bug and is known to apply to version 2.1).
- Take the time to gather tribute from all your captured settlements and defend them from monsters after every fight. The money they can hold seems to be capped, and they fill up pretty fast.
- The money bonus of the new hero, Hekate, seems to be just a bonus item that you can equip to get around 30 more gold from fights, and will probably be replaced not too far into the game.
- Don't spend your scarabs early on. Items that you may get from chests at this point are worth far less than those later on. I would save them up till I'm around the 50% mark of game completion.
- Don't waste money on ammo/elixirs. You'll be better off saving up for upgrades, as the enemies will just keep getting tougher. The exceptions to this rule might be when needing an edge against the hardest monsters in the game or you don't have anything better to spend on.
- The game becomes increasingly sluggish as it progresses, at least on the iPhone 4. This seems to be caused by the background logic handling the increasing number of captured settlements, as well as memory depletion on the phone. The latter can be helped by shutting down other apps running in the background and restarting the phone. The other can only be fixed by the game developers.
- When the game is running sluggish (again on the iPhone 4), executions will become a lot harder to do, as the game might not recognize more than a fraction of your swipes. When this happens try to slow down - you don't need to swipe very fast to finish off the execution, and it gives the game a better chance to recognize your swipes.
Cheats/exploits:
- Certain spells can be exploited by restarting the match in the middle of casting the spell. This will cause the spell to land just after the match is restarted, landing you a free hit. This has been confirmed to work with Ice in version 2.1.
